I am wary of three year contracts for players 35+ but I do like Zubrus.

Good resigning. Can still be effective in our top 9. Think he can still be an effective 30-40 point player. Prefer him being on the 3rd line and acquiring a top 6 LW tho.

I like the signing. Can play all 3 forward positions. Good at PK, good at D, along boards.

3 million for a solid forechecker with a big body who can still produce points, no question. Plus in the 2nd and 3rd years of this contract the cap will go up and make this look like a genius cap move considering Zubrus' skills. Just my .02.

I guess you're not aware one of their prospects, Reid Boucher, scored 62 goals in the OHL this year with Sarnia, breaking Steven Stamkos' team record.

I was never too fond of Zubrus when we first signed him but he grew on me over the years. I've always taken the stability he brings to the team's top-9 depth for granted but looking at his numbers (30 point season, 38 and 40 point season in his three other full seasons with NJ) they're pretty consistent with that of a third liner, which is where I think he fits best. He's had some chemistry with Kovy but I'd rather Kovy play with someone that can match his pace.

It'll take a long, lengthy rebuild but I bet in 3 years we'll at least be as good as the Albany Devils.
